Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern the use of the RiceCake service operated by Moncoco (hereafter "the Company") and set out the conditions, procedures, rights, and obligations of the Company and users.
Article 1. Purpose
These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for use of the service provided by the Company, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of users and the Company.
Article 2. Definitions
- "Service" means the ricecakestudy.com website and related web and mobile services operated by the Company.
- "Member" means a person who has agreed to these Terms and concluded a service use contract with the Company.
- "Teacher" means a Member who has registered a teacher profile.
- "Student" means a Member who searches for teachers and books lessons.
- "Service Credits" (also called "Points") are credits sold by the Company that can be used only inside the RiceCake service. Service Credits are not transferable, not refundable for cash, and not exchangeable for any value outside the service, subject to the Refund Policy.
Article 3. Posting and Amendment of Terms
The Company posts these Terms on the service. The Company may amend these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable law and will give at least 7 days notice of any amendment. Users who do not agree to the amended Terms may request to withdraw their membership.
Article 4. Membership Registration
Membership is created when a user agrees to these Terms, submits the registration form provided by the Company, and the Company accepts the application. The Company may refuse or later terminate registrations based on false information, registrations under another person's name, registrations by minors without consent, or other ineligible applications.
Article 5. Withdrawal and Loss of Membership
Members may withdraw at any time through the Manage Account page. The Company may, after prior notice, suspend or terminate the membership of users who breach these Terms or use the service through improper means.
Article 6. Services Provided
The Company provides teacher search and matching, messaging, lesson booking and schedule management, reviews, Service Credit purchases, premium visibility listings, and the referral program. The specific content and pricing of services are posted on the service.
Article 7. Service Credits
The Company sells Service Credits as the seller of record. Credits may be used only for payment of RiceCake services (such as lesson bookings and premium visibility listings) and are not transferable, not refundable for cash, and not withdrawable. Refund of Credits is governed by Article 10 and the Refund Policy.
Article 8. Mail-Order Intermediary Status for Lessons
With respect to lesson contracts between Students and Teachers, the Company is a mail-order intermediary under Article 20 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and is not a party to the lesson contract. Responsibility for the content, quality, and scheduling of lessons rests with the Teacher concerned. The Company provides Teacher identity, qualifications, and review information on the Teacher profile and booking pages.
Article 9. Payment and Payment Methods
The Company uses Toss Payments Inc. as its payment service provider and accepts payment via credit card and other methods supported by Toss Payments. All amounts are displayed and charged in Korean Won (KRW).
Article 10. Withdrawal of Subscription and Refunds
Withdrawal of subscription and refunds are governed by the Refund Policy posted on the service. Unused Service Credits may be refunded within 7 days of purchase. Credits that have already been used are not refundable.
Article 11. User Obligations
Users must not impersonate others, post false information, infringe the rights of the Company or others, post obscene or hateful content, disrupt service operation, post unsolicited commercial advertising, or otherwise breach applicable law or these Terms.
Article 12. Company Obligations and Limitation of Liability
The Company will endeavor to provide stable service and to protect user information. The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes outside its reasonable control, such as force majeure, communication failures, or failures of the payment service provider or hosting provider. Disputes between Students and Teachers regarding lessons are to be resolved primarily between the parties; the Company may, within reason, assist with dispute mediation.
Article 13. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute between the Company and a user, the parties will make good-faith efforts to resolve the dispute through discussion. If discussion fails, either party may apply to the Consumer Dispute Resolution Committee under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
Article 14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any matters related to use of the service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. The Seoul Western District Court will have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute.
